NOCA portal 2.0 is live, and this is what’s new

It’s been long in the making, but finally live! The new and improved NOCA portal now allows users to efficiently manage article master data internally, and systemically exchange it with customers and/or suppliers. So what can you expect?

Intuitive, minimalistic and straight forward UI so everyone can and wants to use the NOCA portal

In the NOCA portal, users build a centralised, single source of truth for all article master data, including tech specs, descriptions, images, documents, TARIC and EAN codes, article numbers, and prices.

We have developed a data structure that assigned technical specifications to component categories (e.g. handlebar, saddle, seat post, tyres). This means that no matter who is responsible to add this information, it’s always in the same structure and order. In addition, it is very clear what information needs to be added so that all relevant information for product, marketing and sales teams is available when needed. As a result, data consistency and completeness can be significantly improved while communication efforts between teams are cut by more than 30%.

We have seen people struggle with traditional systems, as processes are complicated, interfaces overloaded, and the user experience frustrating. That’s why we have worked hard on our UI/UX to make it as easy as possible for users to get their work done. We took inspiration from B2C online shops, while also providing the option to have an excel-like look and feel. This way we ensure that every team member wants and can work with the NOCA portal and we can finally dismiss shadow IT, all those excel sheets I know are flying around your desktop and drive, and painful integrations off all the tools used across different teams.

New and improved PIM (product information management) functionality for easy article data management across product, marketing and sales teams

Master data powers your business, but in order for it to work, your data needs to be consistent, complete, correct, and connected. This is only possible if you create a single source of truth with all article master data that is connected to all relevant channels. And now, the NOCA portal 2.0 does exactly that:

  • Create a harmonised and standardised taxonomy and structure for all your article data without lengthy processes. We developed a data structure for tech specs (attributes) specifically for the cycling industry that you can leverage straight away.

  • Enrich articles with all relevant information, including article name, numbers, descriptions, images, documents, technical specifications, FAQs, MOQs, default and custom pricing, TARIC and EAN, average lead time, country of origin, etc.

  • Work with model logic to quickly edit data across multiple articles and save time.

  • Track, connect, and keep an overview of different versions of the same article.

  • Understand who is doing what with an automatic change trail.

  • Synchronise data across different channels, including your website, online shop, third party sellers (e.g. bike-components.com) or Amazon to significantly reduce time to market and provide stellar customer experiences

  • Translate descriptions with an integrated tool.

  • Track and analyse your data consistency and easily update and enrich articles in just a few clicks to create a reliable and complete data base.

Digital BOM development for OEM brands and assemblers

While our article management serves all stakeholders in the bicycle industry, including component suppliers, distributors, assemblers and OEM brands, the latter benefit from our new and improved BOM development tool.

We have seen hundreds of excel sheets, or excel sheets with ten thousands of rows being handled by product managers to develop bill of materials in all different shapes and sizes. Updating article information, price and weight dynamically throughout the process was a real pain and led to speccing delays, mis-procurement, and loads and loads of time spent on menial tasks. The NOCA portal 2.0 can now fix this:

  • Create BOMs directly from your article management with all relevant article master data displayed without additional manual effort

  • Swap components (articles) in just a few clicks to check their effects on the BOM

  • Track cost and weight parameters to ensure you hit your targets

  • Compare BOMs with each based on the number of components (articles), assembly groups, costs and weight

  • Keep an automatic change trail and attach comments to the BOM to make sure all team members know what’s going on

  • Share and collaborate with assemblers or OEM customers to reduce communication efforts, make sure everyone has the most up to date information, and there is no miscommunication leading to production mistakes

Digital catalogues as a basis for a connected master data platform

Once a complete, correct, connected, and consistent database for articles and BOMs has been established, they are ready to be shared. Through the NOCA portal, users can now create digital catalogues in just a few clicks to systemically share article master data with their customers or suppliers.

The recipient, in turn, can then use this data (articles or BOMs) for their own operations without having to manually copy-paste information into their own system. This not only saves sales and support managers time in providing customers with all relevant product information, but makes it super easy and fast to spec and procure the right components or bikes.

Scalable data structure so you can manage, filter and expand your article data base as fast and efficient as possible

Behind the scenes, we have significantly updated our data structure to make sure users can manage portfolios of hundreds, thousands or ten thousands of components. This means you can now create, filter, update and share all articles as efficiently as possible without having to worry about performance.
